In a shocking development, it was announced today that the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) was being renamed due to lack of print. Several industry experts reacted to the news with great disappointment, but little surprise.

“I’ve been observing the death of print for years,” declared Greg Walters, Secretary of the MPSA Board of Directors. “It’s been just a matter of time.  Over the past 12 months, I’ve seen copier dealers opening White Castle franchises everywhere. Madness.”

    Paperless

“From the end user side, we’ve been expecting the demise of hardcopy for quite some time,” added Justin West, Vice President of the MPSA Board. “In anticipation of this, we have been privately preparing to relaunch the association as the MXSA, and will have more details very soon.”

First Russian firm to join Managed Print Services Association

ARTI, a leading supplier of managed print services in Russia, recently committed to membership in the Managed Print Services Association. ARTI was one of the first printing companies to offer managed print services to the Russian market, with an initial contract in 2008. Since then, the company has made MPS the primary focus of its business, providing increasingly automated services to its growing client base.

ARTI, the first MPSA member from Russia, brings new perspectives on the industry to the organization,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier. “By sharing the challenges faced and insights gained as an early MPS provider in Russia, ARTI will be able to help other members avoid pitfalls as they begin offering MPS services to new markets.

ARTI MPS in Russia“When any industry reaches a certain level of development, it needs a way to coordinate the activities of individual participants, exchange experiences and report on changes. MPSA performs that important role for the managed print services industry, uniting leading industry participants, helping them to stay abreast of changes and trends and achieve common goals, said Andrey Malyshev, ARTI President and CEO

“We are looking forward to becoming active participants in MPSA, sharing our experiences, establishing business relationships with other members, and taking advantage of the wealth of valuable business information and support the organization offers its members,” Malyshev added.

Tailored program enables vendors to enhance revenue and lower total costs

Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corporation, announced today the launch of the Samsung PrintIQTM managed print services program. This comprehensive program is designed to help Samsung’s dealer, reseller and OEM partners implement and develop strategic managed print solutions for customers that can be tailored to individual account needs. Samsung PrintIQTM addresses many common office printing issues, lowers total operating costs and provides opportunities for enhanced revenue and profits.

Partners for the Samsung PrintIQTM program include Print Fleet, MWA Intelligence, LMI, Compass Sales Solutions and Great America Leasing Corporation.

Samsung PrintIQ ProgramThe Samsung PrintIQTM program comes with a complete suite of tools that provide dealers and resellers with the ability to analyze, optimize and manage their customers’ printer, multi-function printer (MFP) and copier fleets. The program highlights areas where dealers and resellers can reconfigure their customers’ fleets and employ Samsung and selected partners to conduct faster, cheaper and better leasing, monitoring, supplies and service.

“Samsung PrintIQTM is a smart solution for our dealers, resellers and partners trying to meet their customers’ changing demands,” said Todd Bouman, vice president of marketing for Samsung Electronics America’s Enterprise Business Division. “At Samsung, our customers are our number one priority and implementing this program will help them to substantially increase productivity and lower their customers’ total cost of ownership.”

    PROGRAM ELEMENTS

The Samsung PrintIQTM program is composed of the following tools:

    • System Analysis: Samsung representatives join the vendors’ sales teams to offer a comprehensive analysis and make sure the right machines are matched with the right requirements as well as ensuring each workgroup understands which features would most benefit efficiency.

    • Print Management: Industry leading software solutions are provided to monitor and analyze the fleet continuously for peak efficiency. Samsung partnered with Print Fleet and MWAi to provide an affordable  and unique cloud print management solution

    • Leasing Program: To keep the optimized Samsung PrintIQTM programs within budget, Samsung’s finance leasing partner Great America Leasing Corporation provides leasing options, subsidized by Samsung, for qualified resellers.  There is no need for a costly cash outlay and as technology develops and newer printers and MFPs are released, they can be replaced easily for continually optimized efficiency.

    • Sales Tools: Samsung’s partner, Compass Sales Solutions, provides an information system that automatically records sales and sales force management functions for the vendors. This helps improve vendors’ workflow, reduces time spent doing paperwork, helps the management team assess what is in the funnel and provides tools to help coach the sales team.

    • Supplies: For solutions that incorporate Samsung machines, Samsung PrintIQTM offers specially priced, genuine Samsung supplies to qualified resellers. Samsung has also partnered with LMI to provide reliable, professional-quality low priced toner cartridges for various non-Samsung printers, MFPs and copiers.

    • National Service & Support: Samsung PrintIQTM includes full technical support through a national network of service partners.

“Samsung has demonstrated its market leadership by joining the MPSA as a Foundation Member, and now the company continues its proactive industry involvement with the launch of the Samsung PrintIQTM program for their dealer, reseller and manufacturer partners,” said Joe Barganier, President of MPSA. “With this program, Samsung is providing its channel partners with more tools to reward their participation in an MPS opportunity.”

More information on Samsung PrintIQTM program, including program dates and eligibility, can be found at Samsung Managed Print Services.

The Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) announces that MWA Intelligence, Inc. (MWAI) has renewed its Platinum Membership in the Managed Print Services Association.

“Visionary organizations like Mike Stramaglio and the MWAi team raise the bar for the Managed Print Services Association. They not only challenge us with ideas about the future of our industry, they also offer game plans to take us there. Because of committed members like MWAi, the MPSA continues to thrive as a resource for the managed print marketplace,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier.

Extract from Interview with MWAi Information Architect Mark McCuen

In this interview extract, MWAi Information Architect and Vice President Mark McCuen talks about what’s ahead for the managed print industry and why membership in MPSA is especially important at this time. Read the full interview with MPS pro Mark McCuen at the MPSA website, yourmpsa.org.

Why is MPSA important to the MPS industry?

MPSA has some of leaders in industry MPS, along with people just starting out. Communication and sharing ideas and best practices within this common ground is the only way to success and innovation. Even if you think you have it all figured out, you can’t do it by yourself. Any organization that brings best practices together is important to the members of that group.

What attracted MWAi to the MPSA?

We are very impressed with what the MPSA is doing. Communication is key to managing the change we are all going through, and it’s productive to gather and connect like minds. We want to help MPS providers as they are putting their services together.

    Communication and the Big Picture

We are also attracted because the picture is bigger than MPS, and as an industry, we need people with the right expertise, and then we can grow anything from a core MPS practice to true Managed Services. We are thrilled to be part of this industry, but hold onto your seats because if MPS providers do this right, we have the chance to become major service players in the enterprise.

    MPS as an App

As MPS players, we as an industry need to restructure our approach. Customer environments are fixed now, but becoming less so, and in the near future, service technicians and account support personnel will access more data from apps for cost-effective, instant updates.
