Direct MPS Provider – OEMs or any branch or subsidiary of an OEM.

Indirect MPS Provider  – independently owned reseller whether single or multi-brand based; includes consumable resellers or distributors.

End User – organization that has implemented an MPS program either on their own or with the help of a provider; the emphasis will be on how the End User themselves implemented the project.

Software Provider – any company that develops its own software for use in the MPS industry whether as an infrastructure or end user application.

Nominations Look at Six Areas

The nomination forms each cover six categories, range from the scope of the program or service, to the problem solving and best practices approach used. All entries will be in the context of case studies, and the MPSA Board will contact nominated customers to verify their statements.

Let Board Members Help

Board Members are available to advise on what kind of metrics will help entries stand out and to act as a sounding board for entries. If a Board member is directly involved with a submission or works directly or indirectly for an organization that has entered a submission, then that Board member will be excluded from the review process for that category. All submissions are received in confidence and will be reviewed and treated strictly within the confines of the Award process.

Ricoh ChaMPS Program Helps More Dealers Take Advantage of Opportunities in MPSA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ricoh ChaMPS Program Helps More Dealers Take Advantage of Opportunities in Managed Print Services Association

Membership discount opens door to participation in dynamic professional group

Columbus, OH – November 9, 2011 – A number of Ricoh dealers have joined the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) through the Ricoh ChaMPS program this year. This special initiative lets Ricoh Family Group (RFG) dealers join the MPSA for a significant reduction off the regular corporate membership. Channel members who’ve recently signed on with MPSA under the Ricoh ChaMPS program include A&B Business, Electro Imaging Systems, Meridian Imaging Solutions and Smart Technologies.

Meridian Imaging Sees Trend Towards More Customized MPS

One of the new members, Meridian Imaging Solutions, has offered printer service and supplies for over 15 years. In this brief interview, Managed Print Specialist Tara Ingels offers some background on how Meridian has approached the MPS model for its customers.

Meridian has offered managed print services for several years, however over the past two years, we have become more focused than ever on best practices and partnering approaches with our customers. We developed our first true “managed print services” program in 2005, using CarbonSix to perform assessments of customer’s print environments.

That approach evolved into us investing in our own fleet monitoring application (PrintFleet and now FM Audit) to provide a true cost-per-print approach and to provide automation of printing for the customers. These tools have equipped us with a powerful way to provide rapid assessments, pro-active fleet monitoring and management and on-demand reporting for account reviews.

MPS is booming not only throughout the industry, but also within our customer base, and organizations within every niche. It is no longer perceived as a concept, but more so a necessity, as every company has had to take a closer look at their operating expenses and make unprecedented cuts to their bottom line. It’s our goal to establish long-term relationships with our customers and to implement and develop a strategic managed print approach unique to each individual account.

Developing MPS as a Profession and a Business Model

“Meridian’s evolution as an MPS provider offers an example for other office technology companies that want to take that path. We look forward to their participation in the MPSA to help us develop managed print services as a profession and as a business model,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier.

“Our membership with MPSA is really about growing and developing our MPS approach and strategy on an ongoing basis,” said Ingels. “Printing and copying are moving targets, and we know that MPS is also a rapidly growing trend. We want to make sure we continue to offer the best service, recommendations, and partnering approaches to our customers, and MPSA will help us do that. Being a member isn’t just about short-term benefits and enhancements to our program, is about staying informed so that we know how to create long-term partnerships with our customers so that they trust we are experts within their organization.”

MPSA Sponsors Special Workshop for MPS Professionals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Managed Print Services Association Sponsors

Special Workshop for MPS Professionals

Unique small-group format encourages

dynamic discussions and interaction with MPS peers

Columbus, OH – October 3, 2011 – the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) will sponsor the first small group MPS workshop January 16, 2012 in Las Vegas. This unique gathering follows the intimate format successfully used by the “no rules MPS” peer group meetings in 2011. Participants praised these previous workshops for their open forums and fresh, honest discussions. Now, through the sponsorship of the MPSA, the next workshop will be open to any active MPS professional with two or more years of experience and who engages with end-user clients on a daily basis.

Registration is free for members of the MPSA, “no rules MPS” and LeopardONE, and $149.00 per person for non-members.

Small Groups Allow More Personal Interaction

Networking is a powerful way to learn more about any craft, and this intimate workshop setting takes that interaction to a new level. The workshop is a true small group experience. The venue focuses on content, substance and discussion, without the distractions and scheduling commitments of a larger professional conference.

“The small group workshop format of the previous no rules MPS workshops received very positive feedback from attendees. Now MPSA is making this discussion-focused, peer-to-peer experience available to a broader community of MPS professionals. Participants are encouraged to ‘come as they are’ for a relaxed interactive, but intense experience,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier.

Based on Groups of 12

Each group will have 12 participants and an assigned leader who facilitates open discussions on pertinent topics chosen by attendees in advance of the event. The leader will summarize the best practices from the individual groups to be shared later with all participants and the MPSA membership.

Participation is limited to the first 120 qualified professionals, and all attendees must participate in the group sessions. There will be a maximum of eight one-hour sessions, each covering a separate topic. Beverages and light lunch will be provided.

Requests to participate can be sent to Joe Barganier at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

MPSA provides all of that to its members, allowing for a centralized platform for those in the industry to connect,” said Amy Weiss, Editorial Director at The Imaging Channel.Education and information sharing are the most important keys to success in any industry. Having that new member be of the caliber and reputation of The Imaging Channel and 1105 Media is a powerful endorsement of the value and importance of this association to the industry,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier. “We look forward to working with The Imaging Channel to build a stronger MPS marketplace.”

“Being a part of the MPS community is a huge benefit for The Imaging Channel, both immediate and long term,” Weiss continued. “The Imaging Channel strives to be the voice of the MPS industry, and to do that, we need to both be accessible and have access to industry members. We’ll gain that contact through our association membership. MPSA membership allows us to interact with those on the front lines and ensure that we're meeting their needs. First dealers to join MPSA renew under Ricoh ChaMPS program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

First MPSA Dealer Members -- MT Business Technologies, RJ Young – Renew Commitment to Managed Print Services Association

Firms were first dealers to join MPSA, now renewing under Ricoh ChaMPS program

Columbus, OH – August 2, 2011 – MT Business Technologies and RJ Young, the first dealers to join the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA), have renewed their commitment to the group as corporate standard members. In addition, they took advantage of the membership discount available through the Ricoh ChaMPS program. This lets Ricoh Family Group (RFG) dealers join the MPSA for a significant reduction of 50 percent off the regular corporate membership fee.

“MTBT and RJ Young were the first two mps providers to join the MPSA as corporate standard members in July 2010. It’s gratifying to see them both renew their commitment to the emerging managed print services industry and the association. We’re happy to see them take advantage of the Ricoh ChaMPS program as well,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier. “Both organizations have a tradition of leadership in the traditional copier industry, serving on numerous industry boards, panels and advisory groups. They were also inaugural members of the PrintFleet User Group in 2008, prior to the formation of the MPSA.”

MTBT: Learning and Sharing Best Practices

MT Business Technologies specializes in helping businesses optimize office productivity and efficiency through improved document workflow and office document technology. Solutions include managed print services; office equipment for printing and copying; and document storage and retrieval systems. MT’s sister company, Meridian Technology Group, offers a full suite of IT solutions including remote network monitoring, disaster recovery, data back up and security solutions. Founded in 1918, the privately held, third generation Ohio-based company has offices in Mansfield, Avon Lake, Akron/Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, Defiance, Newark, and Toledo.  (For more information visit www.mtbt.com.)

“We decided early on to support the MPSA, because we saw this was the future of our industry, and it would require a pooling of resources for the industry to grow effectively. We joined to learn best practices for our MPS program and to network with fellow MPS professionals, programs and publications. Today MPSA provides a community for sharing and growing. It keeps us in touch with trends in the industry, and with resources and education for our sales team and company management,” said Carl Fernyak, CEO of MT Business Technologies.

MT Business Technologies began offering managed print services in 2007, with the launch of the Total Output Management® Program. “We recognized right away that this required new systems within our organization to promote and support the program. Our internal staff has spent a lot of time and effort on developing the infrastructure to support the Total Output Management Program. We are now helping other dealers understand these trends, which is very rewarding.”

“I’m proud to say that MTBT has provided additional assistance to the MPSA through its ongoing support of me, as I served on the Board of Directors–Dealers 2009, and since November 2010, when I was asked to serve as president of the MPSA,” noted Barganier, who is also an MPS Consultant with MTBT.

RJ Young: Source for Objective Information and New Ideas

RJ Young is the largest independent digital office equipment provider in the Southeast, with solutions to manage clients’ copiers, printers and documents. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, RJ Young has been in business for over 56 years and has 350 employees throughout five states and 16 locations. (For RJ Young’s complete range of products and services, visit http://www.rjyoung.com.)

“We continue to support MPSA because it is a large group of people with a common interest. It’s a repository of everything that’s happening in the industry, and we can find information on what other people are doing. I can pick and choose what interests me, and the information is very forward thinking. That helps us visualize where want to go with MPS,” said Lee Rummage, Director of Image Works for RJ Young.

Brantley Pearce, MPS Program Manager, noted that RJ Young can also contribute to the organization as a member. “I think there are ways for us to participate in ways that benefit our fellow members and the industry. RJ Young is a fairly significant copier dealer and reseller, and from that angle, we can help people in a similar position regarding MPS.”

Rummage added, “MPSA offers unbiased, objective information and connections from people who are actually in the game. Every company is an island, and we all do things a certain way. If we talk to each other, we can discover ways of doing things we hadn’t thought of. MPSA is a good forum for seeing what others are doing and for making contacts and networking. Being part of large organization gives us exposure to a wider range of perspective and experience. MPSA is valuable as a clearinghouse for everything that is going on in the industry.”

Modern Office Methods: First Ricoh Family Group Dealer to Join MPSA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Modern Office Methods: First Ricoh Family Group Dealer to Join Managed Print Services Association under ChaMPS Program

CEO looks forward to networking and benchmarks to help grow MPS business

Columbus, OH – July 19, 2011Modern Office Methods is the first Ricoh dealer to join the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) as part of the special ChaMPS program available to Ricoh Family Group dealers.

Modern Office Methods President and CEO, Kevin P. McCarthy, said he was drawn to join the MPSA by the enthusiasm of the MPSA executive leadership and the opportunity to network with other companies that are also focused on their managed print business. “We look forward to studying benchmarks with other members, and to getting to know and understand other companies within the industry like ourselves,” McCarthy said.

Modern Office Methods (MOM) has been in the office equipment business since 1957. Today, the company’s annual revenue tops $30 million, and they were named "2009 Dealer of the Year" by imageSource magazine. MOM serves thousands of customers and employs more than 220 people. Their product line includes a full line of copying systems, facsimile systems, multifunction devices (MFPs), color solutions, network laser printers and color printers. MOM clients output more than one billion pages a year, and MOM’s FleetCare™ service helps put companies in control of their printing costs.

MPSA Membership Adds Value to Company’s MPS Program

“We are excited to see prominent dealerships like Modern Office Methods take advantage of this great opportunity to join the MPSA. Not only will they gain value from benchmarking and networking, our membership can also learn from the success that Modern Office Methods has had in MPS. We hope many other Ricoh dealers will take advantage of this special ChaMPS membership offer,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier.

Ricoh’s ChaMPS Managed Document Services Program helps dealers transform their business to a services-based model to meet customers’ document management needs. ChaMPS also enables Ricoh Family Group (RFG) dealers to join the MPSA for only $500, a 50 percent reduction off the regular cost. MPSA membership gives a dealer MPS credibility and access to the MPSA’s strong industry alliances, technical partners and best practices.

MOM Customers Benefit As Well

McCarthy added, “Our clients benefit from our MPSA membership because the benchmarking and idea sharing will help make us a better service provider to them. Managed print is an important piece of our future, and the MPSA helps draw focus to this initiative and provides a way to share new ideas to make all participants better.”

McCarthy also hopes to contribute value to the association as well. “We’ve done a tremendous job growing our MPS business over the last two years, and have expertise and creative ideas we can share with our fellow members. There are opportunities out there many of us aren’t taking advantage of, and through the efforts of MPSA, we can all learn how to be more effective in offering these solutions.”

Ricoh Becomes First Manufacturer to Join MPSA at Foundation Member Level

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ricoh Becomes First Manufacturer to Join MPSA at Foundation Member Level

Ricoh Family Group Dealers Eligible for Discounted MPSA Membership

Columbus, OH –June 27, 2011 - Ricoh Americas Corporation, a leading provider of digital office equipment and advanced document management solutions, has just signed on as the first manufacturer to join the Managed Print Services Association (MPSA) at its highest commitment level, the Foundation Member.  Ricoh Family Group (RFG) dealers may now join the MPSA at a discounted rate because of Ricoh’s Foundation Member status. In addition, Foundation Membership is the premier level of corporate involvement in MPSA, and Foundation Members receive top visibility among corporate members in the organization.

“We are excited that Ricoh is our first OEM to join the MPSA as a Foundation Member. Since Ricoh is an influential leader within the managed print services community, we anticipate others will follow their lead and increase their involvement in the MPSA. Ricoh was also one of our 2011 MPSA Leadership Award winners, so their experience and innovation in managed print and managed document services are of the highest caliber. All our MPSA membership is important, but Foundation Members are a special group who make a significant commitment to the association. We look forward to working with Ricoh as our newest Foundation Member to drive the growth of managed print and managed document services,” said MPSA President, Joe Barganier.

RFG Dealers Get MPSA Membership Discount

Ricoh recently announced ChaMPS, a Ricoh Managed Document Services (MDS) Program to help its dealers transform their business to a services-based model to meet customers’ document management needs. The program has three components – Proven Methodology, Best-in-Class Resources and Ricoh’s Industry Leading Services. This new program makes it easier for Ricoh, Savin and Lanier dealers to leverage what they need when they need it, while lowering their document-related capital investment and helping accelerate profit generation opportunities.

“Ricoh is fully committed to managed print and managed document services. By becoming a Foundation Member, we can participate at the highest levels of the association to help drive industry standards, best practices and growth. The MPSA offers clear value to managed print and managed document services players of all kinds, so we are pleased to offer our RFG dealers the chance to join MPSA,” said Mark Boelhouwer, Vice President, Strategic Marketing for Ricoh U.S.

An important piece of the ChaMPS offering is the opportunity for Ricoh Family Group dealers to join the Managed Print Services Association at a significantly reduced rate. Because of Ricoh’s strong financial commitment to the MPSA, RFG dealers can join for only $500, a 50 percent reduction. By joining, a dealer gains MPS credibility and access to the MPSA’s strong industry alliances, technical partners and best practices.
